Leora Kirshenblatt - recreational acro/hiphop and competitive lyrical
Leora Kirshenblatt began her dance training at the age of four. She has trained in all disciplines of dance, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Acro, Pointe and Modern. Her dance training started at Roland and Romaine, then continued on to Koffler School of the Arts and then Leora moved to Danceology at the age of eight, where she has continued her studies until the present. Leora has competed for 14 years winning numerous awards for both solo and group numbers for outstanding excellence.
During her four years at TanenbaumCHAT, Leora’s excellence in dance thrived through the school’s production of Dance Fashion Show. She was a choreographer as well as Junior Producer in grade 11 and the Producer of the show in grade 12, where she received many great reviews. After graduating from TanenbaumCHAT, she could not hold back her love of dance, and continued her studies at George Brown College for Dance Performance. Leora studies Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Pas de Deux, Dance studies, Dance composition, Vocal and Acting. She is currently in her final year.
Leora continues to study under well-known dancers and choreographers in the dance industry and she is very lucky to have this opportunity to learn from them: Jane Wooding, Kathleen Rea, Ray Hogg, Sion Irwin-Childs, Svea Eklof, Derek Sangster, Lou Burgess Corbett and Cindy Macaedo, Eroca Nichols, Meredith Thompson and Monica Dottor. Leora was very fortunate to have been chosen this past summer to work under Kathleen Rea and her Contact Modern Company; REAson d’etre productions. Leora worked closely with Kathleen for her student piece of VIVD4 “The Wild in Us” and was thrilled to be apart of the experience.
Leora has taken many classes and workshops to further her dancing ability from well-known choreographers in the dance world such as Kojo “Tuch” Mayne, Romeo Casellas, Denise Mele, Eryn Waltman, Linda Garneau, Leon Blackwood, Hayley Paone, Tap Dogs, Tiger Martina, Ashley Fenster, Tyce Dioro and many others.
Leora has choreographed many solos for Danceology in recent competitions where they have all excelled in receiving numerous awards. This past summer, Leora continued her teaching in Dance at Hillcrest Progressive School’s summer camp, where she was a counselor, as well as taught Hip Hop to the kids.
Leora is thrilled to be teaching at Danceology where it has been like a second home for her. Leora enjoys sharing her knowledge and talent of dance to the students and is very excited to teach and pass on everything she has learned!
